Abstract: 200-500 words
The further we are, the closer we feel; how can this be real? Intimacy is no longer a construct of privacy, but has become increasingly public to us through our use of networks to evoke a feeling of 'presence-in-absence.' This work uses an interdisciplinary approach through Foucauldian analysis and affect theory to explore the 'feeling subject' and ideas of intimacy through the interface. Through the critical analysis of literature and artwork, it develops a discourse on mediated intimacy by mapping a history and a technological discussion on the affective experience.
