Abstract: 200-500 words
Beauty is desire. The beauty is the desire performed in the action to object. The collaborative action of technology and human realizes the desire of beauty in the digital era. The human is the performing being determined by the will to action, and its condition is collaboration. The life is the actual-life process changed by the action and its mode of production. The essence of life is the multiplicity as the immanent inscription of event actualizing in the site of indeterminate situation. The multiplicity presents the truth-process, the multiple truths beyond what the truth is. It retains the freedom of human who follows the drive (Trieb) which circles perpetually round the desiring object. The technology expands the conception of beauty. In particular, the computational technology endowed with a certain degree of intelligent and emotional qualities performs the collaborative action with the human. The collaborative action of technology and human reverses the idealistic aesthetics that underlines the beauty in the regime of representation. The beauty performed in the collaborative action of technology and human can be called the performing beauty. It exists in the conflicting between desire and action in the relation to the object. It reveals that the object is the source of desire of beauty, insofar as the desire is the change of object in itself. It lasts the desire of beauty, the impossible demand organized in the actual and lived relation of the reality and the Real. Of special importance for understanding the performing beauty of collaborative action is the performative. The technology and human communicate using actions, and they act and react with each other. The process of collaborative action is parallel to that of conversation between humans. This implies that the collaborative action of technology and human is utterances including both the action itself and its result. It presents that the collaborative action of technology and human is a performance as what happens in the movement of action, and its meaning depends on the performativity as the felicity conditions (various communicative contexts) which can be, or not successful, rather than the truth condition can be true or false. What the performative of collaborative action means is that the beauty prefers to infinitely open in the collaborative action rather than to complete in the given conventional contents. It becomes subject to the taste as style that is no longer so sure a reference point, and its judgment is in conformity with the power of desire rather than the power of reason. The performative of collaborative action is constituted by the total (Gesamt) and inter-action. The total-action is to merge technology and human into one insight in the name of life, and the inter-action is the netting (hybrid practice) based on the continuity and liminality: the continuity concerns with the coherence of mergers that give rise to new possibilities and liminality indicates threshold states, a moment of being in between altering phrases by the continuity. Two characteristics of total and inter-action weave a hybrid network of technology and human as collaborators on the equality. It reveals the ironic dream haunted by the fantasy-mechanism, the contemporary mass’s collective desire to technology. Insofar as the performative of collaborative action involves the relation of desire and action to object, it can be only observed by a symptom. Since the symptom is what is uttering as well as what should be read. To read the symptom, Aesthetic Technology analyzes the desire of beauty performed in the collaborative action of technology and human. In a narrow sense, Aesthetic Technology is a concept for the collaboration of technology and art (artistic usage of technology and technological usage of art). In a broad sense, Aesthetic Technology is an intervention on the absence of problems and concepts in the movement of critical analysis of the beauty provoked by the technology, and simultaneously the problematic of ideology that overlooks the significance of action to add something and the essential extra addition (the surplus value or enjoyment produced by the adding). What is revealed by Aesthetic Technology is the essential lack of being. It contributes to the real spirit of humanity which does not define ‘I’ but performs ‘We.’ It leads us to a truth: insofar as the human follows the rule of desire to object, the beauty always remains in the Utopia called desire.
