- This thesis discusses Digitalism in contemporary Western Painting as an art movement emerged in the early 1960s, and became very popular ever since. John Constable the famous English painter says: “We don’t see things as they truly are until we start working on understanding them first”. So, in order to see Digital Painting as it truly is, we must first work on understanding what it is, how it began, the artist behind it, as well as the era in which it evolved before passing any kind of judgment on Digital Painting. There for this thesis explains gradually all issues related to the understanding of Digital Painting, through chronological overview of its history, analyzing its different aspects, and comparing between paintings of both Digital painters and some of the most famous painters of the 20th century.
